The Montessori Preschool Skills Programme supports early childhood development through an authentic Montessori curriculum and a carefully prepared learning environment. Classrooms are equipped with purposeful, hands-on materials that build independence, sensory exploration, and foundational academic skills.
Children engage in child-led activities that strengthen:
Fine motor coordination and pencil control
Early language, vocabulary, and phonemic awareness
Pre-math concepts such as counting, matching, sorting, and sequencing
Practical life skills, independence, and self-care
Concentration, confidence, and problem-solving
With guidance from trained Montessori educators, each child progresses at their own pace. Teachers observe readiness and gently introduce new concepts, ensuring learning remains calm, meaningful, and free from pressure or competition.
The programme nurtures respect for others, care for the environment, and positive social interactions. These foundational skills prepare children for a smooth transition into formal learning, including IPC- and Cambridge-aligned academic pathways, with confidence and curiosity.
Montessori Bambino is the introductory stage of the Montessori Preschool Skills Programme.
In this level, young learners explore language, movement, and sensory discovery through hands-on materials and child-led activities.
Children develop:
Phonemic awareness and vocabulary
Fine motor coordination and pencil control
Practical life skills like pouring, sorting, and dressing frames
Sensory discrimination of colours, shapes, and textures
Concentration, confidence, and independence
Through gentle guidance from trained Montessori educators, children progress at their own pace in a calm, joyful environment.
This stage builds the foundation for confident learners ready to move into Piccolo.
Montessori Piccolo deepens learning as children gain independence and readiness for structured pre-academic skills.
Children experience:
Pink Series phonetic reading and movable alphabet work
Early math using number rods, sandpaper numerals, and counting materials
Practical life tasks like food preparation, cleaning, and care of plants
Sensorial development with the Pink Tower, Broad Stairs, and Colour Tablets
Cultural lessons introducing geography, nature, and community awareness
Piccolo supports emerging literacy, numeracy, and social confidence. Learners develop responsibility, self-control, and a love for purposeful work — preparing them for Giovane.
Montessori Giovane prepares children for formal primary learning while maintaining a Montessori approach rooted in independence and hands-on discovery.
Children advance in:
Phonetic reading and early writing
Addition and subtraction through bead materials and number boards
Complex practical life skills such as table setting, sewing, and organising work
Sensorial geometry, pattern recognition, and early scientific observation
Cultural topics including continents, plants, animals, and the solar system
By the end of Giovane, children show strong school readiness — academically, socially, and emotionally.
They transition smoothly into IPC- and Cambridge-aligned primary pathways or into the Montessori Lettura Reading Programme for continued literacy development.
Montessori Lettura is a progressive reading programme designed to build strong, confident, and independent readers using authentic Montessori English materials and methods. Suitable for children aged 3 to 8, this programme supports both early readers and developing readers through a structured, child-centred approach.
The programme begins with the foundations of literacy:
Phonemic awareness and sound recognition
Phonetic letter sounds (not alphabet names)
Matching sounds to objects and pictures
Montessori sandpaper letters, moveable alphabet, and sensory phonics tools
As children progress, they move into:
Sound blending and word building
Pink Series (CVC words)
Blue Series (blends and digraphs)
Green Series (advanced phonics, long vowels, sight words)
Higher levels introduce:
Reading fluency
Vocabulary building
Guided reading
Comprehension activities
Creative writing and sentence construction
Learning remains hands-on, calm, and self-directed. Children work with materials that develop both decoding and understanding, ensuring reading is meaningful—not memorised.
Montessori Lettura supports children at different stages of learning, including those in the Montessori Preschool Skills Programme, the Primary School Skills Programme, or attending other schools.
By the end of the pathway, children read with confidence, comprehension, and enjoyment—skills aligned with IPC and Cambridge literacy expectations.
